“Conventional poly covers used to be damaged in the winter by ice that blew off the tops of our glass greenhouses. The Solarig covers haven’t been damaged a bit in three years. I expect to get at least six years from Solarig covers. That will reduce the cost of labor in replacing covers by one-third – two recoverings in 12 years compared to three.

“With certain species, the Solarig covers grow a better plant. Geraniums, for example, flower quicker under the Solarig cover. The diffused light produced by the cover is less intense so that leaves don’t burn.”

“I like the Solarig covers for their durability. I want to use them on everything I have. The covers have gone through three winters without any apparent damage from ice. Conventional poly covers used previously were cut by ice in the third winter, and the tear ran the length of the structure so that the cover had to be replaced. Even if the Solarig covers are torn, the material doesn’t run and can be easily repaired. I’m hoping to get seven years from the Solarig covers.

“Also, Solarig covers don’t stretch over time. In a double-layer system, this keeps the air space between the two layers at the optimal depth for good insulation.

“And, the diffused light produced by Solarig results in better growth in plants that set under the hanging baskets in our greenhouses. Under conventional poly covers, these plants are in the shadow of the baskets and get ‘leggy’ as they grow to reach light. Solarig covers scatter the light so that there are no shadows in the greenhouse.”

“I love Solarig covers for use on roll-up sidewalls. The material provides ease and simplicity and holds up well to the abuse of repeated rolling up and down to ventilate greenhouses.

“Our roll-up sidewalls save electricity when compared to using fans for ventilations. And you can put Solarig on and not worry about it for several years.

“You also can sew the material to create baffles in a double-layer system to maintain optimum insulating depth between the layers.”
